What bergamot is

A citrus fruit from the south of Italy whose peel oil smells fresh, slightly bitter and a little floral, like a lighter and more refined lemon. It is the most common opening note in perfumery because it lifts everything placed under it. In a composition it brightens the first minutes and then hands over to spices, flowers or woods, which is why it appears here in scents as different as a cold citrus blend and a warm spiced one.
